Blurred ships hover,
Where a skyline once begun,
Only squabbling crows and gulls now punctuate,
An otherwise grey canvass, which
When turned upside down,
Bares little difference,
As above.. so below.

Creeping through the bones,
Of a lone piper on the peir,
Ghosting through the streets,
And kissing the Pentland hills,
Where rotten bark crumbles under foot,
A relic of the night, where nothing was forgiven,
It started with a lovin whisper.

As the world went about its business.. she began to toy,
Bashfully kicking an empty can up and down the street,
And pushing passers by,
She raised her voice from a whisper to a howl,
Through letterboxes,
Skirting up stairwells onto rooftops,
Where she threw slates like skimming stones.

One by one the car alarms began to sing,
Sandmen picked up their rifles and waged war on troubled minds,
Out in the hills, naked clowns danced around up-turned trees,
As she screamed through the forest,
One day you'll all know ma name.

Under moonlight she raged,
Until birds cooed the sunrise,
Stone dykes toppled,
As she staggered back down through the valley,
When eventual death became her, new light was born,
Some of us never awoke,
She whispered once again,
Was it not me who said,
We'll all follow suit?
